University
of Georgia Department of Classics
The largest and most vibrant Latin program in
Georgia and one of the two or three largest in North America;
the department, which works in close collaboration with the College
of Education's Language Education Department, provides more preservice
and inservice opportunities for Latin teachers than perhaps any
other Classics department in the country, including a wide range
of undergraduate and graduate courses, a Studies Abroad program
in Rome, several Latin distance education classes (available via
WebCT, email, or snail mail), and the Georgia Classics Summer
Institute, which offers classes for initial or upgraded certification
and a summers-only M.A. program.
